This issue brings you a special focus on contemporary technological developments, with particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its growing influence on higher education, research, and society.
In this issue, Er. Rahul Agarwal provides an insightful account of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 and presents a series of case studies highlighting recent AI developments in India. Dr. Sarla Nirankari discusses the increasing need to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills required to engage effectively with AI in higher education. Dr. R. C. Sharma calls upon academic leaders to remain vigilant about the emerging challenges posed by AI-generated fakes in education and research. Er. The “Research in Education/Economics” column presents the key findings of a Ph.D. study examining the economic benefits of nursing education in Kerala. The “Across the Globe” section highlights significant international developments, including the establishment of the world’s first AI university and recent student data demands by the Trump administration.
In the “Reports” section, we cover the efforts of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to integrate AI into the Open University system, as well as Chandigarh University’s collaboration with Perplexity AI to strengthen teaching, learning, and research. In the “Technology Watch” column, Er. Rahul Agarwal discusses emerging intent-detecting devices that lie at the intersection of computing and neuroscience.
The issue also includes a review of the bestselling book Empire of AI: Dreams and Nightmares in Sam Altman’s OpenAI by Karen Hao. The editorial reflects on the evolving relationship between human intelligence and machine intelligence, describing it as one of the defining contests of our era.
